The area i live in is in that 1/4... and so is my friends in NC and my friend in Washington State, and My friend in Maine, and my Friend in Canada, and we all Play GW1 w/o problems..... and none of us can Play WoW, so yea. Dial Up is a lil slower i admit... but it don't mean i cant still wipe the floor with you in PvP,

I've been reading a little about the early days of GW, and it seems there were designers who wanted to go up to level 80 or higher then too. They got overruled then and I hope they get overruled now. I'm pretty sure Grind Wars is not in the cards.
That said, raising the cap to around 40 or so could allow for a much larger world. You know how in the GW zones the levels of the mobs climb by 4-level intervals as you progress through the storyline? More levels = longer storyline, which is going to be important if they abandon the campaign format.

GW 2 will beat WoW, fair and square because it's going to take aspects from Guild Wars, from WoW and from other MMOs, make them work and annihilate all the competition. Or it won't who knows. But it could and Anet has my support.
Think of it like this:
Higher level cap in Pve meaning no more boring drab game after level 20 (like now), probably fitting to casual players meaning they don't have to grind to a certain level to be apart of something. More immersive PvE because of the level cap/new races/etc.
PvP players will be able to go and PvP without having to deal with unlocking skills and everyone gets what they want as far as I'm concerned.
One thing. Trading. I suggest Anet adds a system along the lines of a store or merchant mode. What this is, is you can be afk or not, have a screen up with items you're selling and people can look at these items (if you're in this mode) and buy them without you having to actually be around. Beautiful way to sell things, works effectively from what I've seen in another game and would make trading a lot easier.
Oh and the less of you guys that are whining, the better. Feel free to quit both GW and not get GW 2 I won't miss you.

The people complaining about 'broken promises' seem to have attached the word 'indefinitely' to the end of Anet's plan, as if they were going to keep releasing chapters until the sun goes supernova. These people have become too attached to the game. They have lost perspective. They no longer play for fun, but to succeed in the only little microcosm that allows them to. They talk about GW1 being wasted time as if Guild Wars isn't actually a game designed for wasting time, but a second job (or, more likely, a first).
The talk of 'promises' is a red herring.

Ok first off I want to say WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! GW2 is a rip off of WoW? GET REAL! WoW is a rip off of every other MMO Hell go look up D&D and you will see that WoW didn't invent half of the stuff you people are giving it credit for. I love GW1 and I am very excited about GW2! I love all of the new features they are talking about but some of you people are killing me!! Boo Hoo I can't take over my millions of dollars in gold, my ecto, my char, my weapons. How do we even know if ecto or even gold for that matter will be useable or even IN GW2??? Did anyone ever think about that?
GW2 is going to be a whole new game, new engine, new control system, You can't take your chars from gw1 to gw2 because it wont WORK! to get down to the basic of it, It's all new code! Like Gaile said, Did you get to take your stuff from HL1 to HL2?? NO! Did you get to take your chars from Diablo 1 to Diablo 2?? NO! It just doesn't work that way.
I am sick of seeing all these people say oh well if I wanted to play WoW I will just play WoW! Then GO! we don't need you here! We will be sitting here enjoying are GW2 that is FAR better then WoW! and does have a lot of the same features that are found in EVERY MMO!!!! and or Role Playing in GENERAL! and we will not be paying $15 a bucks a month.
We don't even know the whole idea of GW2 and you people are ready to drop it at the flick of a hat because of one mags info???? It's 2 years away people!! CHILL THE HELL OUT!
I think people who are saying it's a WoW rip off need to shut up, Do some research about role playing and MMO's in general before posting about stuff they have no IDEA on.
Because if those people really loved GW the way they say they do then they would stand up and support the hard work that ANET has done for us and the fact that they listen to the community at all is a god send!
So my point is if you think GW2 is gonna be a WoW rip off then turn your game off now, Go buy or play WoW and waste your $15 a month for a stupid cartoon rip off of every other MMO or Role Playing game in general because WoW didn't invent CRAP! they ripped it from D&D and all the other classic RP games to ever come out.
I will be sitting here waiting for GW2 with JOY! and Respect for the new stuff we get to do, See, Enjoy and be a part of.

Just for the record, I don't care about not being able to trasnfer chars from gw..it would be cool if you could have title (if there are titles in gw2) which would be something along line of 'the descendant of <your gw charcter name>"

I'm -against- GW2
GW is fine the way it is; great gaphics, great engine (I love the instanced zones), level 20 cap is great together with 8 skill at a time, means you'll have to think ahead, I currently got 7 lvl 20 chars which I'm pretty proud of and have amassed a certein wealth, aswel as put a lot of money in GW (all 3 campaigns + all 3 pvp editions + 18 character slots total + 1 million edition upgrade) as wel as had a lot of time playing on it, and was planning to do so a lot more, but after reading this I got so dissapointed in arenanet and GW I just don't feel like levelling my other chars anymore. I've just reactivated my WoW account again and will probs be getting morre into wow from now on, which I regret after having played GW ever since the day after it's official release... shame on you anet! I've forgiven you for the nerfs you threw at us. I've forgiven you for letting me buy 2 accounts and then after offer character slots. I've forgiven you for telling me -my- router can't connect to your login servers when it's just plain your fault.
BUT I won't forgive you for this. GW2 is the worst thing you could have done, and the way you're doing it (from what I've read) is worse.
That's my oppinion in all honesty, like it or dislike it.

GW2 sounds awesome. One of my biggest issues with GW was not being able to run into other players. I'm really curious how they'll be able to make the game more MMORPG like while still keeping it free.
Oh, and jumping, swimming, and sliding FTW. They're such little things, but not running into invisible walls left and right will help make the world so much more believable.

Delays happen in big games. There are tons of things that can go wrong in the development of software that end up causing delays.

Sigh, I guess no one can just have fun any more.
GWEN: Looking forward to it. A little upset there are no new professions, but then again, I love taking my Ranger on new adventures. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us. I still think this won't the LAST GW1 thing we see, there might be another expansion, we will have to wait and see. Also, I can imagine the ANET team might be working on some additional free content ala Sorrow's Furnace. Looks to be fun. I, being an avid PvEr and Gwen-ophile (wow that sounds REALLY wrong), hope the title is a slight of hand reference to our favorite pyro .
GW2: Ahhh, the masses cry. Although from the interpretation so far, it seems that the Inquirer had quite the juicy tidbit after all. Regardless, I am excited. I am not freaking out, because honestly, I assumed a GW2 would have to be released eventually, if not before I tried some other game and got addicted. Oh, thats right, we play video games for fun! Or it is some teeny-bopper thing to NEED to be perfect even in a virtual world because their mothers don't think they are in the real on and they lost all of their friends. I have been around since the first beta, and I have enjoyed GW extensively, it being my favorite game and all. Sorry to sound harsh, but all you whiners really ARE making drama queens out of yourselves. The game hasn't even been BETAd. Everyone freaked out when D2 was announced, and people were flipping out when things from D1 weren't announced as part of D2. But guess what, D2 is ten times better, sold better, and was a hands down better game. The level cap is a concern, but I can't wait to see how the innovative people at ANET are going to handle it. We have a lot to learn yet, and a lot to see. I am excited sure, but I always hold my judgment till I try it. How can you criticize apples and oranges if you haven't tasted both yet.
And to those who are leaving. Thank god, you made me lag with your WTS spamming, and your ZOMG LOOKS AT MY ARMORS. We (i think, I could be COMPLETELY wrong) are getting some of our weapons, titles, etc etc through the Hall of something something thingy. Thats a stretch enough. the only thing I would really want to do is have my names saved, but if not, I shall just start a new legacy.

The expansion pack will likely end up being the conclusion of my GW gaming. While my characters are not anywhere near 2 yrs old yet (the eldest has their 2nd birthday sometime in December). I consider them to be relative veterans compared to the newer characters I have. The expansion will provide an extended storyline for my characters but as far as GW 2 is concerned, their story will end there.
Having GW 2 take place 100 years in the future just wouldn't allow for GW 1 characters to be moved over (unless there's a time warp) so GW 2 will be its own standalone game. Going into the homeland of those that invaded Ascalon where most of my characters were born (4 tyrian, 2 canthan, 2 elonian) would seem interesting. Maybe the expansion would provide a fitting conclusion for those characters before many other gamers would put them into retirement before playing GW 2.
(tangent) It's possible that new gamers to GW2 won't even know who Gwen is (/tangent)

Take out "Guild Wars 2" from the description and tell me it doesn't sound like "Generic MMO with some other bits"
Well I guess it will be one last screensaver from me and that's it for some years, disappointing there couldn't have been 2-3 more campaigns but oh well. I do have to wonder if there will be a continuing drop off of players in the coming two years...

"Guild Wars Reborn"
Hundreds of years later, in Tyria... sounds more of a race-reliant struggle.
Radical changes - overhauled environment and character control system, redefined PvP play and retooled NPC companion system.
Predominately open worlds, with instancing as a secondary feature in some areas (not positive on the interpretation). Hundreds of people in the same area, and choices that the population as a whole change the quest structure. PCG gave an example of choosing to rally against a dragon or not. Those that help, gain loot and xp. If the dragon isnt driven away, another 'quest' may trigger, leaving more options for the population. Very cool idea IMO.
I'll just take the level cap stuff directly - "Events will also offer a way for players of different levels to keep interacting in the persistent world - which is crucial, since right now, ArenaNet is planning a very high [100-plus], or possibly no level cap"
Sidekicks simlar to CoH, allowing powers to seep from a high level character to a friendly lower level char.
'Click to move' will be abandoned in favor of a more freedom-rich control scheme, including 'jumping, swimming, and sliding'
Destroyable environments?
Redefined PvP Summary
No real world limitations to servers. You pick a 'world', but can switch between the realms.
PvP World vs World combat sounds to be a massive scale capture the flag (AB style?) with no minimum or maximum party size. Big-ass raids that can supposedly take place for weeks on end. At the end, the 'world' will be reset, and it will start again it seems. More a casual version of PvP where you can pop in and out to perform various smaller tasks. Developers will reshuffle the teams into well-balanced match-ups every week or so.
GvG will still be present, as a more balanced form where everyone is on a level playing field.
Companions Summary
NPC like heros can join you (like a pet it sounds), and dont count towards your party. Not using this feature lets you be mroe powerful. Every player can bring a single companion on his adventure and won't take up a slot.
I think I read somewhere in here that it will be mission-based, but I didn't see it in my quick second-look.
Conclusion Summary
As of now, there will be no monthly fees, and no 'campaigns' for Guild Wars 2... mini-expansions, and expansions are hinted at.

Well this just reminds me of WoW. It also seems that pvp is being pushed to the side and made into some sort of mini game. Thats not what i want at all. Time to find a new game it is then. gg Anet.

Sure if you enjoy and want to "newb farm"/power trade/farm/whatever, all the way up to millions again. I enjoyed accumulating wealth the first time around as GW was my first online experience but personally I would prefer to pass on any of that "second time" around. The freshness just wouldn;t be there for me. I enjoy not being bothered too much about money when I play.
The main thing I originally liked about GW over WOW was that GW said your account/characters would be there "forever" whereas with WOW once you stopped paying your account /characers were deleted. GW2 is in effect a defacto "deletion" of my GW account.
Sure it'll be another 2 years before GW 2 arrives and a lot can happen but it better get good player responses to make me want to start from scratch all over again, otherwise WOW definitely looks like a better alternative.
